Off-site and off-line H/W slash
Unlike the webguide,
this list is not restricted to members of the Holmesslash list, and it includes
all other H/W resources that I can find. I have links to
other people's fanfic collections or archives
of H/W slash, and I have some information regarding
books, zines, and other goodies that are
available on or off the internet. I shall try to put things in alphabetical order.
- Arcady writes
Garak/Bashir fiction, some of which has a Holmes flavour to it. All her
stories are fairly short and non-explicit, except for "Snake Charmer" and
"Serpent's Tail".
- Athea's Writings
have moved to this website, which contains all her varied fandoms. Her
Holmes/Watson stories are first-person narratives about Holmes & Watson and
(her own characters) Josiah & David. She rates them from PG to NC-17, and she
also has other websites that I list on my
webguide.
- The Beta list
is a reference for anyone writing fanfic who needs to find someone to beta
(proofread and give comments on) their stories before unleashing the tales
to the public at large. You can sign up as a volunteer to beta for others,
as well.
- Cicero's Vestibulum,
contains a valuable list of zines for both H/W and Inspector Morse slash. She also
has her own fiction written in both those fandoms.
- Enchanteresse has a
work-in-progress H/W story on her Infinite Universes site.
- Indy's Singular Cases
contains her H/W slash stories and many Jeremy Brett pictures. She has also begun
to archive other writers' stories.
- Kerry's
A Neolithic Hut Upon the Moor features her humourous parodies of Holmes, her
personally taken photos of Baker Street, and more fun stuff!
- Veinglory's Slashphyle
shows that she is the queen of writing angst, and she has quite a range of plots
that do not always pair Holmes with Watson. She can always surprise me with the
twists and unique insights of her tales, and she's also written slash in other
fandoms. Don't forget to check out Veinglory's informative book reviews, links,
and her new zine. See my listing below.
- The Slash Cotillion
is a story archive for literary, mythological, and historical fandoms, including
Holmes. Please visit and contribute stories (or reviews of other people's stories).
I will add more extensive information to the front page soon.
- Storyteller's Campsite,
the home of Allaire, contains fanfic and slash recommendations for over 25
fandoms, including Holmes/Watson.
- The Sublunar Fields has one
Holmes story called "A Study in Obedience" which you can find under Fiction,
Historic stories.
- Some print Holmes/Watson fanzines
are available at Judith Proctor's Blakes 7 site. Just follow the "Zine Shop"
link, choose a currency for your order, and then look for "Sherlock Holmes" in
the fandoms. I haven't myself bought any of them, being busy and low on cash.
- You might like to try some bookstores (online or off) to find My Dearest
Holmes by Rohase Piercy, which I haven't read, but have heard some good
comments about. Apparently it's an angst-filled love story between Holmes and
Watson. Another slash book you might find at some booksellers is The Sexual
Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by 'J. Watson.'
- In a comment from alr, I've learned that the book The Sexual Adventures
of Sherlock Holmes is actually by Larry Townsend, and it has a "strong BDSM
theme," so be cautioned if that's not to your tastes. You can learn more about
the book at
Townsend's website.
It's listed as the sixth book on the list. Thanks for the help, alr!
- Violet Nightingale's
Lion's Den tale
is available in Cohorts 4, a multi-fandom slash magazine.
- Mark tells us that Scarlet Street,
a general mystery magazine, has back issues available for purchase, including
issue #16, which contains an "examination of Holmsian canon and sexual identity."
- Also, Ophelia can take
orders for copies of a H/W zine in the UK called "The Battered Tin-Despatch Box",
featuring 115 pages of stories by different authors.
- The film Zero Effect is
a modern update to the Sherlock Holmes tale "Scandal in Bohemia," which I
recommend. The stars are Bill Pullman as Daniel Zero and Ben Stiller as Steve
Arlo, Zero's Watson. I liked this movie a lot, and even though it does have
female love-interests for both the Holmes and Watson characters, they have nice
slashy moments together sometimes.
- Oblique Publications is a
long-time slash zine publisher that has gone online. Their site features *.pdf
versions of their zines, so that you may see the issues just as they looked in
print. Oblique has done a major update, bringing their total of Holmes stories
up to five. Use the Story List by Fandom to find these tales or browse through
the various issues of Paean to Priapus.
- Veinglory recently published a H/W zine called
Worth the Wound.
Please check Veinglory's site for more information on purchasing it.
- The Britslash website lists the
Tokens and Traditions
novel from Top Hat press.
I do try to be as comprehensive as possible, but if I miss a site, or you have
valuable information to give to me, whether on a zine or a broken link, please
email me so that I can add or edit your listing here as quickly as I can.
